Contemporary Elizabethan hair

The red hair and curl aspect and heart shape is very Elizabethan but at the same time it has modern aspects with the more structured curl

Frizzing technique

I liked learning the technique of this hair style as it was quite straight forward once you got the grasp of it, You take a large open clip then make a figure of 8 throughout it then fasten it with another clip Then straighten over the hair comb it out and it leaves a very tight frizzy looking curl with I feel Is iconic Elizabethan. There was difficult aspects at first as my first couple of sections wernt as good as I hoped as i didn't do them tight enough. As I got used to the process more the easier it became I would consider doing this process as part of my final look as I enjoyed doing it and feel it gives a good authentic outcome.

Vivienne west wood run way looks that were based around Queen Elizabeth. The whole image screams Elizabethan from the outfit,nake-up accessories, hair pieces and finally the hair itself  I feel really contributes to the final look. I personally love Vivienne Westwoods taken on the Elizabethans.

Plats

Creating an Elizabethan hair style using plats, I liked my outcome as I'm not very experienced with hair although I feel the photo doesnt show it off very well, although I do like the idea of it and feel it can be improved with further practice also I think If I added ribbon throughout it it would look more Elizabethan.

Comparing Contemporary and Historical hair styles.

Similarities is the hair pulled back into a bun with a slight wave too it and very high hairline with loose curls and no hair on the face which was very elizabethan

More modern Elizabethan hair as this is like the netting women used to wear the other similarities are the hair is off the face with a low bun and there are hair accessories with in the netting. which in comparison is very similar to a typical Elizabethan  for example the image bellow  is a portrait of Elizabeth  with a jeweled hair net although these hair styles are different you can see the inspiration that Elizabeth still has with her styling.
Queen Elizabeth 1580

another bun with pearls added into the front of the heart showing this must have been a popular hair style for the time.
another high hair line and structured curls into the shape of a heart..

Introduction

This is my hair blog my project is based on the Elizabethans so all the hairstyles will be based around the tudor era. Women would bleach their hair for it to be lighter in the aim to resemble Queen Elizabeth, Elizabeth had red curly hair pale complexion and was seen as the highest beauty of her time.

From the image of Elizabeth you can see the curls and the hair high up to enhance the forehead and the slighty wavey hair which was the trend at the time.
